Dub

I keep reading and hearing Dubstep referred to as "Dub". Dub is something different. I'm sure Dubstep has some etymological association with Dub but there's a reason they're separate: because they're different.

Anyway, I'm calling this now so anybody passing through here can all awe at my prediction when it comes true in a few years: if this fast and loose usage of the word "Dub"continues, it will go the way of the word "Indie" in the sense that Indie in mainstream consciousness doesn't at all describe what it actually is, only the appropriated, customised definition.

Ughhhhhhhhhh. Gimme something to talk about, shit.

Damn I haven't heard anyone say that but I'm SURE that tons of people spout that off. Ug. Speaking of Dub do you like Roots Manuva? I bought a couple of his albums on vinyl in college but I haven't listened to them in a while.

Ahh, I've encountered it most on forums and people's dumbass Facebook statuses.

Yeah! I do like Roots Manuva. I've heard him mostly on other people's records (Cinematic Orchestra, Coldcut, Mr. Scruff etc.), and only have that Run Come Save Me album of his, and the dub version. Still, I love those funky sci-fi beats.
